The Best Booking Experience Ever

Have you ever booked some place and at the end they scammed you for your money?

I am not talking about shaking your hand with someone and agreeing on a place to stay.

I know people who were scammed on reliable sites, such as Booking. Well, luckily I had a better experience in Czechia. As I mentioned in my previous blogs, I visited Jeseniky and it was amazing. You can read more about it. Anyhow the booking experience was icing on the cake. We booked a place whose price was cheaper than my clothes from NewYorker😆 We only had to pay around 50 euros for 2 nights for 2 people. Seems relatively cheap, but wait it gets better😁

The fist cookie was definitely the lady, but I spent a whole blog about it and you can read more about it there😉The second and the biggest surprise was definitely the house, why....well we had the whole place for ourselves. I am not talking about a small studio apartment, I am talking about a big cottage house with numerous apartments. We were there just at the right time, after winter (there is a ski resort near) and before summer, so we were kind of lucky.

The strategic location of this place is amazing, it was 10 minutes away from the train station, 5 minutes away from shops, surrounded by necessary infrastructure, and the best thing...in the middle of the National Park. We were able to walk to all of the places, but if you want to explore a bit more...the Polish border is just a few kilometers away😁

Back to the accommodation, the parking is available next to the building, so you won't find any problem with parking. The inside is a real treat of the place. The kitchen is in the communal usage (but not if you are alone😆), the pans, stove, fridge, and freezer are there, so you don't need anything with you. They also have a dining hall with about 10 tables, so you can feel at home. For all the coffee lovers, there is a coffee machine, but you need to pay 20 crows for usage (basically nothing), the same goes for tea.

Next to the dining hall, they have a communal room, where there is a table tennis table and darts, so you are not bored if you don't like the countryside😂There is even a projector....a perfect place to have a romantic date😏 In the second floor there are many rooms, their simplistic design makes the whole experience really authentic. You are provided with the bed, armchair and a nightstand... everything you need. There are also communal bathrooms, separated for ladies and gentlemen, which include nice equipment (showers, driers, toilets, etc.) and are extremely clean, which was really nice. If you want to be a bit fancier you can also rent an apartment on the third floor, but I wasn't inside, so I cannot really judge its quality.

If you want to visit and stay in this place, you can find it on booking (U Ztraceného potoka). I highly recommend it and this showed me that traveling in Czechia can be fun, cheap, and unexpectedly amazing. I will quickly give you an overlook so it is easier for you to decide.

Icy Day

Basketball, football, volleyball, handball, swimming, tennis. Am I forgetting something?? Yes, if you're in Czechia, you should definitely mention HOCKEY!!!!! I didn't know this, but apparently, they love it. Personally, I'm not the biggest fan. While I'm familiar with the NFL and we have a hockey league in my home country, I've never really watched it. So, before the game, I texted my friend to explain the rules.  Her perfect description?  "The black thing needs to go into the goal" 😂 We ended up losing 2:5, although we led 2:0 in the first 20 minutes. But that's not what's important; it's the atmosphere and Czech attitude towards the game that counts. As we walked from the train station to the winter stadium, we noticed groups of people wearing red jerseys, showing remarkable unity. Once inside, we headed straight for Czech first aid - BEER. Then, we easily found our seats, the fifth row in the middle. The stadium's view was stunning (re...

Let's begin :)

Hey there, fellow travelers! Did you know that students in the European Union have some awesome opportunities to explore new places? 🚀✈ You're probably familiar with the Erasmus+ exchanges available to all EU students, right? Well, I recently decided to dive into the adventure myself. Despite having experienced an exchange before, this time I'm venturing into uncharted territory – the Czech Republic, or as it's officially called now, Czechia. While Prague might be the first city that comes to mind, there's so much more to discover. I personally choose the gorgeous city, full of history, art, architecture, culture, tradition, and all the other positive adjectives that I cannot think of right now. It is located in the southeastern part of the country, right between Brno and Ostrava. It is the 6th largest city in Czech, with around 100,000 inhabitants.  Do you know it?  It is called Olomouc😀  If you have no idea about it. I will tell you something about it. Olomouc often...

The Mith, the Man, the Legend....

Quick, what is the first thought when you hear Metamorphosis??? No, not the song, that is super popular these days🤦 Your first association might be the OG - Ovid's Metamorphosis or even Shawn's Pygmalion if you love Victorian Literature😁 Well...not if you are Czech. Then your first association will be Kafka's bizarre Metamorphosis. Yea, THE Kafka's work😁 Imagine:  When you wake up in the morning, you probably have breakfast, a shower, and take a s... Now, your name is Gregor Samsa, traveling salesman, you wake up as a gigantic insect. Yeah, that happened to the main character in the work. Kafka didn't take any time to joke around, he gave us a big pile of WTF from the start. Now, you might think waking up as a bug would be cause for alarm, but Gregor takes it all in stride. Well, as much as one can when you've sprouted extra legs overnight. The magic begins when Gregor's family discovers his creepy-crawly makeover. Let's just say family breakfast take...

Charms of Moravia's Grandmother

What a title, right? Are you curious? 😁 No doubt you're wondering, who the heck is Moravia, right? 😂 Well, it's a part of Czechia, of course. Czechia is divided into three major regions with interesting names: Bohemia - named after the tribes who inhabited it (the Romans named it and the name stuck) Moravia - named after the Morava River (despite its less-than-pleasant brown color 😅) Silesia - named after the mountain and river (surprise, surprise 😂) And now, the name of the grandmother is... Opava! 😲😲 Yes, you heard it right. Opava is the grandmother of Czech Silesia. In her youth, she was in good health and was the largest and most important city in Czechia, but now her granddaughter Ostrava has taken her place. Nevertheless, Opava is still a somewhat important and sizable city with 55,000 inhabitants. Seriously, what's there to see here? I would recommend visiting one of the parks. There are so many of them, it's hard to miss one. My personal favorite is the ...

National Treasure in Czechia

Jeseniky is simply amazing. Wait a minute...YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT ARE JESENIKY. Shame on you 😂 It is a national park in Checkia, and let me tell you it is gorgeous.  You may asked what to do there right? Well if you like hiking and are not in the Lebron James condition, you are in luck. The mountains or rather hills are not very steep and easily walkable by foot. On the other hand, if you are a fan of winter sports, you may consider going on a ski trip in the winter months.  I recommend managing your booking in one of the villages, such as Vapenna, because of the lower cost, accessibility by train or car, and necessary infrastructure (shops, bars...). If you are going to spend a few days here I recommend visiting a nearby place called Black Waters, yes that is the literal name of the place. It got its name after the typical colour of the water, which is actually seen as black, due to the soil. Here you can find numerous lakes, that usually have places to sit and you can ...
