Hey there, fellow travelers! Did you know that students in the European Union have some awesome opportunities to explore new places? 🚀✈
You're probably familiar with the Erasmus+ exchanges available to all EU students, right?
Well, I recently decided to dive into the adventure myself. Despite having experienced an exchange before, this time I'm venturing into uncharted territory – the Czech Republic, or as it's officially called now, Czechia. While Prague might be the first city that comes to mind, there's so much more to discover. I personally choose the gorgeous city, full of history, art, architecture, culture, tradition, and all the other positive adjectives that I cannot think of right now. It is located in the southeastern part of the country, right between Brno and Ostrava. It is the 6th largest city in Czech, with around 100,000 inhabitants.
Do you know it?
It is called Olomouc😀
If you have no idea about it. I will tell you something about it.
Olomouc often referred to as the Hidden Gem of the Czech Republic, amazed me from the moment I stepped from the Flixbus. The previously mentioned nickname is absolutely true. The whole city is an architectural marvel, with an amazing UNESCO-listed Holy Trinity Column in the heart of this amazing city. If you come from a country where morning coffee is a must, then you will suffer a bit at the beginning since the average price is around 70 crowns approximately 2,70 euros, but cafes are supper cozy and they even have a special cafe in the center (next to the faculty of theology) that have a playroom for mothers and their children. The whole city is also father-friendly since the price of beer is lower than water and bars and pubs are around every corner😁 I am more a coffee-lover than a gourmet so I will leave the food criticism to you, but I do recommend the restaurant called Bristol. One of the most amazing features of Olomouc must be the people, besides a good knowledge of the English Language they are almost frightfully friendly😅 So do not worry, they will adopt you like a puppy. I will not mention all the beautiful spots in town, because the internet will crash if I do😛just start walking, have your eyes open, and be amazed. As for my academic studies, the professors are friendly and open, and the dorms are in a good location, so if someone is planning to come here, don't be scared, hop on the ride and try to enjoy it.
I look forward to updating you on my exchange, sharing insights into Czech culture, and recounting my adventures in Czechia.
With Love
TP💗
