Icy Day

Basketball, football, volleyball, handball, swimming, tennis. Am I forgetting something?? Yes, if you're in Czechia, you should definitely mention HOCKEY!!!!! I didn't know this, but apparently, they love it. Personally, I'm not the biggest fan. While I'm familiar with the NFL and we have a hockey league in my home country, I've never really watched it. So, before the game, I texted my friend to explain the rules.  Her perfect description?  "The black thing needs to go into the goal" 😂 We ended up losing 2:5, although we led 2:0 in the first 20 minutes. But that's not what's important; it's the atmosphere and Czech attitude towards the game that counts. As we walked from the train station to the winter stadium, we noticed groups of people wearing red jerseys, showing remarkable unity. Once inside, we headed straight for Czech first aid - BEER. Then, we easily found our seats, the fifth row in the middle. The stadium's view was stunning (re...

Food Coma is Real

Hungry for a culinary adventure? Let's see what cities here have to offer, particularly Olomouc because I know if the food isn't good, I will not visit the city 😁. First things first, let's talk about Czech gastronomy.  From Hungarian goulash and tender Austrian schnitzels to German roast pork with dumplings and sauerkraut, Czech cuisine is a delightful fusion of flavors from its neighboring countries. Although they have put their own spin on these dishes, they still bear a resemblance to their distant origins. But hey, who's complaining?  Czech cuisine may not be super original, but it's comforting, tasty, simple, and above all, it warms the soul. Now, let's talk about the best dish, or rather, a side dish that is served everywhere – cheap, tasty, and nice-looking – called beer !  So, the phrase you need to learn is: " Jedno pivo, prosím " which means "One beer, please". Now, let's zoom into Olomouc. Here, you can taste local specialtie...

Czech Old Movies Mania

OMG  Have you ever seen any old movie? And I am not talking about Titanic, for all the people born after Brexit😂  I am talking about classics like Shawn Conery's James Bond (BTW he is the best Bond character, period😉) Well, today we are going to comment on an old Czech movie titled "S Čerty Nejsou Žerty" or in English "Give the Devil His Due" The reason I say it's old is that it has a bad graphic...gives you vibe of the 1950s😂 No, this is not the Devil in the movie😂 to see it you need to watch a movie I will not entertain your imagination instead of you (although I probably did with this picture haha) The point of the story to quickly summarize is very simple. The devil or rather devils (there are many, but only Lucifer is in charge as the supreme devil) need to bring to hell different people, the list includes the "rotten widow" (who married a quite rich worker and later  "killed him"), Royal Commander and State Secretary (both of wh...

Thomas the Tank Engine's Brother

I found it! 😲 Hey there! Did you know that our beloved trains have a lesser-known sibling? No, it's not Gordon, Emily, or Edward the Blue Engine. Who is it? Meet Jakub the Tram, residing in Czechia's charming city of Olomouc! 🚋 Jakub the Tram Just kidding! 😂 But today, I'll delve into the important topic of public transport in Olomouc. As I embarked on my exchange journey, navigating the city's transportation system became a daily adventure. Let's dive into practical insights. The best way to traverse Olomouc? Without any tricks, the best mode of transportation in the gorgeous city of Olomouc is by FOOT! 💪 It's the cheapest and healthiest way. But if you want to join me in my quest for great physical shape, you can also use trams to get around the city... just like me! 😅 Speaking of trams, let's talk money. Travelling by tram is relatively cheap, actually very cheap. For 50 minutes of riding time, you will only have to pay 20 crowns, which is less than ...

Let's begin :)

Hey there, fellow travelers! Did you know that students in the European Union have some awesome opportunities to explore new places? 🚀✈ You're probably familiar with the Erasmus+ exchanges available to all EU students, right? Well, I recently decided to dive into the adventure myself. Despite having experienced an exchange before, this time I'm venturing into uncharted territory – the Czech Republic, or as it's officially called now, Czechia. While Prague might be the first city that comes to mind, there's so much more to discover. I personally choose the gorgeous city, full of history, art, architecture, culture, tradition, and all the other positive adjectives that I cannot think of right now. It is located in the southeastern part of the country, right between Brno and Ostrava. It is the 6th largest city in Czech, with around 100,000 inhabitants.  Do you know it?  It is called Olomouc😀  If you have no idea about it. I will tell you something about it. Olomouc often...
